From TOC and Symphony to Horizon
More than 20 years of implementing, questioning and developing inventory-management technology.
Our inventory-management journey began in 2004. From 2005, Serzas Gutsaga worked within the Inherent Simplicity / Symphony ecosystem, applying Theory of Constraints principles to real production, distribution and inventory-management environments.
Horizon is the result of what came next: years of implementation experience, problems that existing approaches could not fully solve, and new technologies developed to solve them.
We implemented before we built.
Two decades of work across production, distribution, pharmacy and retail environments shaped the way Horizon manages inventory flow today. The technology evolved from operating problems, not from a software feature list.
Twenty years in one line of development
The beginning
Work in inventory management begins — focused on the operating logic behind stock, replenishment and flow.
TOC / Inherent Simplicity / Symphony
Work within the Inherent Simplicity / Symphony ecosystem begins, including production, distribution, Make-to-Availability / Make-to-Order and Dynamic Buffer Management.
Real implementations shape the method
Implementation work across production, distribution, pharmacy and retail reveals how inventory logic behaves after go-live — under real demand changes, operational constraints and management pressure.
New problems require new control mechanisms
Retail-scale automation, small targets, overstock control, promotions, management policies and visibility require additional technologies beyond conventional buffer management.
GT-created technologies
Adequate Inventory, Zones & Decisions, Orders Center, Redistribution, Expiration, KPI & Measurements and other technologies are developed from recurring implementation needs.
Horizon
These technologies evolve into Horizon — GT's management-control platform for inventory flow, policies, exceptions and execution.
Why Horizon had to be created
We did not abandon the principles learned through TOC and Dynamic Buffer Management. We extended them where real implementations showed limitations.
Policy automation
Management rules control thousands of SKU-location decisions without forcing people to review every order.
Small-target control
Special logic protects availability where conventional buffer reactions are too coarse for small targets.
Overstock as a decision
Different overstock zones trigger different actions instead of treating all excess stock as one condition.
Management visibility
Lost sales, overstock, expirations and policy performance become visible as management-control signals.
The work existed before today's Horizon interface.
A few historical materials from the TOC / Symphony period that shaped the team's inventory-management approach.

Gutsaga Technologies
Horizon — the inventory-flow system, from implementation to measurable results.
- Horizon and its technologies, developed in-house
- Implementation from data connection to go-live, then ongoing support
- Results tracked on your own data: availability, stock and lost sales

Gutsaga Consulting
Business audits and consulting.
- Audits that show where stock, money and sales are lost
- Business consulting on inventory, supply chain and operations

Horizon is new. The expertise behind it is not.
GT now combines its own inventory-flow technology with diagnosis, implementation, support and regional partner capacity — and validates claims on real client data before asking for a project decision.
